The Lord said to the Jews who came to Him: “I am the door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. After the dismissal of the Liturgy, the priest, bearing a censer, and the deacon, bearing a candle, go forth and cense the precious Cross; and the priest beareth it into the sanctuary on his head, on a tray, through the royal doors. The deacon precedeth him with the candle, censing the precious Cross. The Cross is then placed upon the holy table, where it is censed in cross-wise fashion. Thus do we take leave of the precious Cross.
