Give ye praise, O virgins! Keep festival, ye mothers! Give glory, ye people! Ye priests, bless ye the all-pure Mother of God! For she, who before was a little child in the flesh, is brought to the Temple as the most holy temple of God. Wherefore, celebrating a spiritual feast, we hymn her as an intercessor for the human race.
At “God is the Lord…”, the troparion of the feast, twice; Glory…: that of the apostles; Now & ever…, that of the feast, once.
After the second chanting of the Psalter, this sessional hymn, in Tone IV: Spec. mel.: “Go thou quickly before…”—
Glory…, Now & ever…: The foregoing is repeated.
O David, go thou before us into the Temple of God, and, rejoicing, receive thou our Queen, and cry out unto her: Enter thou, O Lady! Enter thou into the Temple of the King! Her glory is understood allegorically, for from her doth Christ the Light desire to pour Himself forth upon all!
