¶1

Stichos: Hearken, O God, unto my prayer, when I make supplication unto Thee.

¶2

Prokimenon, in Tone VII—

¶3

On the Beatitudes, 8 troparia: 4 from the appointed ode of the canon from the Pentecostarion, and 4 from Ode VI of the canon of the hieromartyr.

¶4

The righteous man shall rejoice in the Lord and shall hope in Him.

¶5

Prokimenon, in Tone VIII—

¶6

Reading from the Second Epistle of Paul the Apostle to Timothy §292 (2:1-10)

¶7

The saints shall boast in glory, and they shall rejoice upon their beds.

¶8

Timothy my child: Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. The husbandman that laboreth must be first partaker of the fruits. Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead, according to my gospel: wherein I suffer trouble, as an evildoer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sake, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

¶9

Stichos: Sing unto the Lord a new song; His praise is in the church of the saints.

¶10

Alleluia, in Tone IV—

¶11

Epistle to the Hebrews, § 334 [Heb. 13: 7-16]

¶12

Stichos: The righteous man shall flourish like a palm tree, and like a cedar in Lebanon shall he be multiplied.

¶13

Brethren: Remember those who have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation: Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp. Wherefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

¶14

Stichos: They that are planted in the house of the Lord, in the courts of our God they shall blossom forth.

¶15

Alleluia, in Tone II—

¶16

Gospel according to John, §51 [Jn 15:9-16]

¶17

Stichos: Thy priests shall be clothed with righteousness, and Thy righteous shall rejoice.

¶18

The Lord said to His disciples: “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

¶19

Stichos: For the Lord hath elected Zion, He hath chosen her to be a habitation for Himself.

¶20

Communion Verse—

¶21

Gospel according to Luke, § 67 [12: 32-40]

¶22

In everlasting remembrance shall the righteous be; he shall not be afraid of evil tidings.

¶23

The Lord said: “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell what ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; and ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.”

¶24

Communion Verse—

¶25

In everlasting remembrance shall the righteous be; he shall not be afraid of evil tidings.

¶26

On the Beatitudes, 8 troparia: 4 from the appointed ode of the canon from the Pentecostarion; and 4 from Ode VI of the canon of the saints.

¶27

Prokimenon, in Tone VII—

¶28

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.

¶29

Stichos: What shall I render unto the Lord for all that He hath rendered unto me?

¶30

Epistle to the Hebrews, §318 [7: 26-8: 2]

¶31

Brethren: Such a high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore. Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such a high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

¶32

Alleluia, in Tone II—

¶33

Stichos: Thy priests shall be clothed with righteousness, and Thy righteous shall rejoice.

¶34

Stichos: For the Lord hath elected Zion, He hath chosen her to be a habitation for Himself.

¶35

Gospel according to Matthew, §11 [5: 14-19]

¶36

The Lord said to His disciples: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

¶37

Communion Verse—

¶38

In everlasting remembrance shall the righteous be; he shall not be afraid of evil tidings.
