[Gal. 4: 22-31]
Brethren: It is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a free woman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the free woman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the Mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Hagar. For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren who bearest not; break forth and cry, thou who travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she who hath a husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then he who was born after the flesh persecuted him who was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what saith the Scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the free woman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

Stichos: The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord, and He is their Defender in time of affliction.
Stichos: The Lord shall help them and shall deliver them, and He will rescue them from sinners and will save them because they hoped in Him.
Gospel according to Luke, § 36 [Lk. 8: 16-21]
And Jesus said: “No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.” Then came to Him His mother and His brethren, and could not come at Him for the press. And it was told Him by certain ones who said, “Thy mother and Thy brethren stand without, desiring to see Thee.” And He answered and said unto them, “My mother and My brethren are these who hear the word of God, and do it.”
