Theotokion: The chains of hades were rent apart, and the everlasting bars were broken asunder by Him Who was born of thee, O all-blessed Mother. Wherefore, we beseech thee: Deliver us from never-ending death by thy mediation, and cause us to dwell in the light of thy Son, Who hath shone forth the light of redemption upon the world.
Thou didst sanctify the Lord God within thy soul, O blessed father, and didst make thy soul a noetic altar, whereon thou didst offer to the Lord a sacrifice of praise in humility of spirit, continually calling upon the saving name of God.

As thou didst establish among believers a firm understanding of grace, O holy hierarch Peter, they came to know thee as a merciful instructor, a treasury of loving-kindness, a teacher of Orthodoxy, the boast of hierarchs, the helper of the helpless, who ever prayest for the salvation of thy children who have recourse to thee with faith.
The life-creating commandments of the Lord didst thou have graven upon the tablets of thy heart, O divinely wise father Peter, and thou wast a preacher of the teaching of the Gospel for thy flock, leading to heaven those who, heeding it, call upon the divine name of Christ in prayer.
Thou wast shown to be like dew falling from the heavens, dissipating the burning heat of deception by thy discourse.
Conceiving the fear of God within thee, O apostle, thou gavest birth unto salvation for those astray.
Ascending the mountain of the virtues, O most blessed one, thou didst preach the Gospel of the kingdom unto all.
