January 14: Apodosis Of Holy Theophany

Vespers: the usual kathisma. On “Lord, I have cried…”, 6 stichera from Great Vespers of the feast itself, the first two of which are chanted twice. Glory…, Now & ever…: Doxasticon: “Thou didst bow Thy head…” Prokimenon of the day. There is no Entrance, nor are there Readings read. “Vouchsafe, O Lord…” Litany: “Let us complete our evening prayer…” Festal aposticha and their doxasticon. After “Now lettest Thou Thy servant depart…”, the festal troparion, once. Litany: “Have mercy on us, O God…” Dismissal, at which we also commemorate the saints of the day.

Nocturns, with the usual kathisma and the customary troparia. We also read the prayer: “Remember, O Lord, in the hope of resurrection…” Dismissal.

Matins : At “God is the Lord…”, the festal troparion, thrice. After the kathismata, the festal sessional hymns. Canon I of the Feast, with 8 troparia, including the irmos; Canon II, with 6 troparia, including the irmos. The irmoi of both canons are chanted twice. Katavasiæ: the irmoi of Canon I. After Ode III, the hypacoï. After Ode VI, the festal kontakion and ikos. At Ode IX, we do not chant the Magnificat, but rather the festal refrains, as on the feast itself. Exapostilarion of the feast; Glory…, Now & ever…, the same is repeated. On the Praises, the 4 stichera of the feast; Glory…: “Thou didst clothe Thyself…”; Now & ever…: “Today Christ hath come…” Great Doxology. Troparion of the feast. Litanies. Dismissal. First Hour.

At Liturgy: We do not chant the festal antiphons. On the Beatitudes, 8 troparia from Ode IX: 4 from Canon I, and 4 from Canon II. After the Entrance, the troparion of the feast; Glory…, Now & ever…, the kontakion of the feast. Trisagion. Prokimenon, Alleluia and Communion Verse of the feast. Epistle and Gospel of the day.
