Establish our hearts and enlighten them for your praise, to glorify you, Saviour, to the ages.

¶2

As you saved Peter when he was sinking, Lover of mankind, bring me up likewise from the deep of my evils.

Slaying me the trickster killed my with the passions; O Giver of life, make me live by ways of repentance.

¶4

Of the Martyrs.

¶5

Unjustly set aflame by material fire, you were enflamed, O Martyrs, immaterially by the love of the immaterial.

¶6

The Martyrs when racked banished the racks and ambushes of the deceiver, and were found worthy of crowns of victory.

¶7

Mary, whose name is Lady, free me from the lordship of many soul-destroying passions by your prayers.
