Job 37

1At this also my heart was troubled and flows from its place.

καὶ ταύτης ἐταράχθη ἡ καρδία μου καὶ ἀπερρύη ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτῆς

2Listen attentively to the thunder of the Lord's wrath And the discourse coming from His mouth.

ἄκουε ἀκοὴν ἐν ὀργῇ θυμοῦ κυρίου καὶ μελέτη ἐκ στόματος αὐτοῦ ἐξελεύσεται

3His dominion is under the whole heaven And His light to the ends of the earth.

ὑποκάτω παντὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἀρχὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ τὸ φῶς αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πτερύγων τῆς γῆς

4Behind Him a voice will cry aloud. He will thunder with His voice of outrage, Yet He will not change them when His voice is heard.

ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ βοήσεται φωνή βροντήσει ἐν φωνῇ ὕβρεως αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἀνταλλάξει αὐτούς ὅτι ἀκούσει φωνὴν αὐτοῦ

5The Mighty One will thunder marvelously with His voice, For He does great things we cannot comprehend.

βροντήσει ὁ ἰσχυρὸς ἐν φωνῇ αὐτοῦ θαυμάσια ἐποίησεν γὰρ μεγάλα ἃ οὐκ ᾔδειμεν

6For He commands the snow, 'Fall upon the earth,' And likewise there is the winter, The rain and the winter storms of His might.

συντάσσων χιόνι γίνου ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ χειμὼν ὑετός καὶ χειμὼν ὑετῶν δυναστείας αὐτοῦ

7He seals up the hand of every man That every one may know his weakness.

ἐν χειρὶ παντὸς ἀνθρώπου κατασφραγίζει ἵνα γνῷ πᾶς ἄνθρωπος τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ἀσθένειαν

8The wild animals go into their shelters And are at rest in their lairs.

εἰσῆλθεν δὲ θηρία ὑπὸ σκέπην ἡσύχασαν δὲ ἐπὶ κοίτης

9From the secret chambers comes the whirlwind, And cold from the mountaintop.

ἐκ ταμιείων ἐπέρχονται δῖναι ἀπὸ δὲ ἀκρωτηρίων ψῦχος

10By the breath of the Mighty One, He will send frost, And He freezes the waters as He wishes.

καὶ ἀπὸ πνοῆς ἰσχυροῦ δώσει πάγος οἰακίζει δὲ τὸ ὕδωρ ὡς ἐὰν βούληται

11And when the cloud obscures what He chooses, His light will disperse the cloud.

καὶ ἐκλεκτὸν καταπλάσσει νεφέλη διασκορπιεῖ νέφος φῶς αὐτοῦ

12He will swirl the encircling clouds by His governance

καὶ αὐτὸς κυκλώματα διαστρέψει ἐν θεεβουλαθω εἰς ἔργα αὐτῶν πάντα ὅσα ἂν ἐντείληται αὐτοῖς ταῦτα συντέτακται παρ᾿ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς

13To perform all their works, Moving them to do whatever He commands. This has been appointed by Him on the earth,

ἐὰν εἰς παιδείαν ἐὰν εἰς τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ ἐὰν εἰς ἔλεος εὑρήσει αὐτόν

14'Pay close attention to this, O Job. Stand still and consider the power of the Lord.

ἐνωτίζου ταῦτα Ιωβ στῆθι νουθετοῦ δύναμιν κυρίου

15We know that God has appointed His works, Having made light out of darkness.

οἴδαμεν ὅτι ὁ θεὸς ἔθετο ἔργα αὐτοῦ φῶς ποιήσας ἐκ σκότους

16He knows the division of the clouds And the violent falls of evil men.

ἐπίσταται δὲ διάκρισιν νεφῶν ἐξαίσια δὲ πτώματα πονηρῶν

17But your robe is warm, And there is quiet upon the land.

σοῦ δὲ ἡ στολὴ θερμή ἡσυχάζεται δὲ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς

18Will you establish with Him the foundations For the ancient heavens? They are strong like a molten mirror.

στερεώσεις μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ εἰς παλαιώματα ἰσχυραὶ ὡς ὅρασις ἐπιχύσεως

19'What is this to you? Teach me what we will say to Him, And let us cease speaking many words.

διὰ τί δίδαξόν με τί ἐροῦμεν αὐτῷ καὶ παυσώμεθα πολλὰ λέγοντες

20Have I a book or scribe by me That I may stand and put man to silence?

μὴ βίβλος ἢ γραμματεύς μοι παρέστηκεν ἵνα ἄνθρωπον ἑστηκὼς κατασιωπήσω

21But the light is not visible to all. It shines far off in the ancient heavens, As that which is from Him in the clouds.

πᾶσιν δ᾿ οὐχ ὁρατὸν τὸ φῶς τηλαυγές ἐστιν ἐν τοῖς παλαιώμασιν ὥσπερ τὸ παρ᾿ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ νεφῶν

22From the north come the clouds, shining like gold; In these great things are the glory and honor of the Almighty.

ἀπὸ βορρᾶ νέφη χρυσαυγοῦντα ἐπὶ τούτοις μεγάλη ἡ δόξα καὶ τιμὴ παντοκράτορος

23We do not find another like Him in His strength. Do you not think He who judges righteously listens?

καὶ οὐχ εὑρίσκομεν ἄλλον ὅμοιον τῇ ἰσχύι αὐτοῦ ὁ τὰ δίκαια κρίνων οὐκ οἴει ἐπακούειν αὐτόν

24Therefore men shall fear Him, And the wise in heart shall fear Him.'

διὸ φοβηθήσονται αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνθρωποι φοβηθήσονται δὲ αὐτὸν καὶ οἱ σοφοὶ καρδίᾳ
