Job 26

1But Job answered and said:

ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Ιωβ λέγει

2'To whom are you attached, Or whom are you going to help? Is it not He who has great strength And whose arm is powerful?

τίνι πρόσκεισαι ἢ τίνι μέλλεις βοηθεῖν πότερον οὐχ ᾧ πολλὴ ἰσχὺς καὶ ᾧ βραχίων κραταιός ἐστιν

3To whom have you given counsel? Is it not to Him who has all wisdom? Or whom will you follow? Is it not One who has the greatest power?

τίνι συμβεβούλευσαι οὐχ ᾧ πᾶσα σοφία ἢ τίνι ἐπακολουθήσεις οὐχ ᾧ μεγίστη δύναμις

4To whom have you spoken words? Whose breath came forth from you?

τίνι ἀνήγγειλας ῥήματα πνοὴ δὲ τίνος ἐστὶν ἡ ἐξελθοῦσα ἐκ σοῦ

5'Will giants be born under the water And those inhabiting them?

μὴ γίγαντες μαιωθήσονται ὑποκάτωθεν ὕδατος καὶ τῶν γειτόνων αὐτοῦ

6Hades is naked before Him, And destruction has no covering.

γυμνὸς ὁ ᾅδης ἐπώπιον αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν περιβόλαιον τῇ ἀπωλείᾳ

7He stretches out the north wind upon nothing; He hangs the earth on nothing.

ἐκτείνων βορέαν ἐπ᾿ οὐδέν κρεμάζων γῆν ἐπὶ οὐδενός

8He binds up the water in His clouds, Yet the cloud is not broken under it.

δεσμεύων ὕδωρ ἐν νεφέλαις αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἐρράγη νέφος ὑποκάτω αὐτοῦ

9He grasps the face of His throne And spreads His cloud over it.

ὁ κρατῶν πρόσωπον θρόνου ἐκπετάζων ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν νέφος αὐτοῦ

10He encompassed the face of the water by an ordinance Until the end of light and darkness.

πρόσταγμα ἐγύρωσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ὕδατος μέχρι συντελείας φωτὸς μετὰ σκότους

11The pillars of heaven were spread all over And stood amazed at His rebuke.

στῦλοι οὐρανοῦ ἐπετάσθησαν καὶ ἐξέστησαν ἀπὸ τῆς ἐπιτιμήσεως αὐτοῦ

12He checked the sea with His power, And by His understanding He wounded the sea-monster.

ἰσχύι κατέπαυσεν τὴν θάλασσαν ἐπιστήμῃ δὲ ἔτρωσε τὸ κῆτος

13For the bars of heaven fear Him, Because He put to death the rebellious dragon by a command.

κλεῖθρα δὲ οὐρανοῦ δεδοίκασιν αὐτόν προστάγματι δὲ ἐθανάτωσεν δράκοντα ἀποστάτην

14Behold, these are parts of His way, And we will hearken to the least of His words.

ἰδοὺ ταῦτα μέρη ὁδοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ ἰκμάδα λόγου ἀκουσόμεθα ἐν αὐτῷ σθένος δὲ βροντῆς αὐτοῦ τίς οἶδεν ὁπότε ποιήσει
