Job 10

1'Since I am weary and groaning in my soul, I will let loose my words to Him. Because I am distressed, I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

κάμνων τῇ ψυχῇ μου στένων ἐπαφήσω ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν τὰ ῥήματά μου λαλήσω πικρίᾳ ψυχῆς μου συνεχόμενος

2I will say to the Lord, 'Do not teach me to be ungodly. Why have You thus judged me?

καὶ ἐρῶ πρὸς κύριον μή με ἀσεβεῖν δίδασκε καὶ διὰ τί με οὕτως ἔκρινας

3Is it good before You if I do wrong, And that You renounce the work of Your hands, And give heed to the counsel of the ungodly?

ἦ καλόν σοι ἐὰν ἀδικήσω ὅτι ἀπείπω ἔργα χειρῶν σου βουλῇ δὲ ἀσεβῶν προσέσχες

4Do You see as the mortal sees? Do You see as man sees?

ἦ ὥσπερ βροτὸς ὁρᾷ καθορᾷς ἢ καθὼς ὁρᾷ ἄνθρωπος βλέψῃ

5Is Your life human life? Are Your years like the years of a man,

ἦ ὁ βίος σου ἀνθρώπινός ἐστιν ἢ τὰ ἔτη σου ἀνδρός

6That You examined my lawlessness And searched out my sins?

ὅτι ἀνεζήτησας τὴν ἀνομίαν μου καὶ τὰς ἁμαρτίας μου ἐξιχνίασας

7You know I have not acted impiously, But who is he who can deliver from Your hands?

οἶδας γὰρ ὅτι οὐκ ἠσέβησα ἀλλὰ τίς ἐστιν ὁ ἐκ τῶν χειρῶν σου ἐξαιρούμενος

8'Your hands fashioned and made me; Then You changed Your mind and struck me.

αἱ χεῖρές σου ἔπλασάν με καὶ ἐποίησάν με μετὰ ταῦτα μεταβαλών με ἔπαισας

9Remember that You fashioned me as clay, But You are turning me back to earth again.

μνήσθητι ὅτι πηλόν με ἔπλασας εἰς δὲ γῆν με πάλιν ἀποστρέφεις

10Did You not squeeze me out like milk And curdle me like cheese?

ἦ οὐχ ὥσπερ γάλα με ἤμελξας ἐτύρωσας δέ με ἴσα τυρῷ

11You clothed me with skin and flesh, And knit me together with bones and sinews.

δέρμα καὶ κρέας με ἐνέδυσας ὀστέοις δὲ καὶ νεύροις με ἐνεῖρας

12You granted me life and mercy, And Your visitation has guarded my spirit.

ζωὴν δὲ καὶ ἔλεος ἔθου παρ᾿ ἐμοί ἡ δὲ ἐπισκοπή σου ἐφύλαξέν μου τὸ πνεῦμα

13'Since You have these things in Yourself, I know You are able to do all things; For nothing is impossible for You.

ταῦτα ἔχων ἐν σεαυτῷ οἶδα ὅτι πάντα δύνασαι ἀδυνατεῖ δέ σοι οὐθέν

14For if I sin, You watch me; And because of my lawlessness You will not consider me innocent.

ἐάν τε γὰρ ἁμάρτω φυλάσσεις με ἀπὸ δὲ ἀνομίας οὐκ ἀθῷόν με πεποίηκας

15For if I am ungodly, woe to me, And if I am righteous, I cannot lift up my head; For I am full of dishonor.

ἐάν τε γὰρ ἀσεβὴς ὦ οἴμμοι ἐάν τε ὦ δίκαιος οὐ δύναμαι ἀνακύψαι πλήρης γὰρ ἀτιμίας εἰμί

16I am trapped like a lion for slaughter; For again You have changed, and You are destroying me.

ἀγρεύομαι γὰρ ὥσπερ λέων εἰς σφαγήν πάλιν δὲ μεταβαλὼν δεινῶς με ὀλέκεις

17You renewed my affliction upon me, And dealt with me in great wrath; For You brought severe ordeals upon me.

ἐπανακαινίζων ἐπ᾿ ἐμὲ τὴν ἔτασίν μου ὀργῇ δὲ μεγάλῃ μοι ἐχρήσω ἐπήγαγες δὲ ἐπ᾿ ἐμὲ πειρατήρια

18'Why then did You bring me out of the womb? Why did I not die, and no eye see me?

ἵνα τί οὖν ἐκ κοιλίας με ἐξήγαγες καὶ οὐκ ἀπέθανον ὀφθαλμὸς δέ με οὐκ εἶδεν

19Why have I become as though I had not been? For why was I not carried from the womb to the grave?

καὶ ὥσπερ οὐκ ὢν ἐγενόμην διὰ τί γὰρ ἐκ γαστρὸς εἰς μνῆμα οὐκ ἀπηλλάγην

20Is not the time of my life short? Allow me to rest a little

ἦ οὐκ ὀλίγος ἐστὶν ὁ χρόνος τοῦ βίου μου ἔασόν με ἀναπαύσασθαι μικρὸν

21Before I go to the place from which I shall not return, To an obscure and dark land,

πρὸ τοῦ με πορευθῆναι ὅθεν οὐκ ἀναστρέψω εἰς γῆν σκοτεινὴν καὶ γνοφεράν

22To a land of eternal darkness, where there is no light, Neither can any one see the life of mortals.' '

εἰς γῆν σκότους αἰωνίου οὗ οὐκ ἔστιν φέγγος οὐδὲ ὁρᾶν ζωὴν βροτῶν
