Numbers 27

1Now came the daughters of Zelophehad the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, from the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph; and these were the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

καὶ προσελθοῦσαι αἱ θυγατέρες Σαλπααδ υἱοῦ Οφερ υἱοῦ Γαλααδ υἱοῦ Μαχιρ τοῦ δήμου Μανασση τῶν υἱῶν Ιωσηφ καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα αὐτῶν Μαλα καὶ Νουα καὶ Εγλα καὶ Μελχα καὶ Θερσα

2So they stood before Moses, before Eleazar the priest, and before the rulers and all the congregation by the door of the tabernacle of testimony, saying,

καὶ στᾶσαι ἔναντι Μωυσῆ καὶ ἔναντι Ελεαζαρ τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ ἔναντι τῶν ἀρχόντων καὶ ἔναντι πάσης συναγωγῆς ἐπὶ τῆς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου λέγουσιν

3'Our father died in the desert; but he was not in the company of those who gathered together against the Lord, in company with Korah, but he died in his own sin, and had no sons.

ὁ πατὴρ ἡμῶν ἀπέθανεν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ καὶ αὐτὸς οὐκ ἦν ἐν μέσῳ τῆς συναγωγῆς τῆς ἐπισυστάσης ἔναντι κυρίου ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ Κορε ὅτι διὰ ἁμαρτίαν αὐτοῦ ἀπέθανεν καὶ υἱοὶ οὐκ ἐγένοντο αὐτῷ

4Do not let the name of our father be wiped out from among his tribe, because he had no son. Give us a possession among our father's brothers.'

μὴ ἐξαλειφθήτω τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν ἐκ μέσου τοῦ δήμου αὐτοῦ ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν αὐτῷ υἱός δότε ἡμῖν κατάσχεσιν ἐν μέσῳ ἀδελφῶν πατρὸς ἡμῶν

5So Moses brought their case before the Lord.

καὶ προσήγαγεν Μωυσῆς τὴν κρίσιν αὐτῶν ἔναντι κυρίου

6Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων

7'The daughters of Zelophehad speak correctly; you shall surely give them a possession of inheritance among their father's brothers, and assign the allotment of their father to them.

ὀρθῶς θυγατέρες Σαλπααδ λελαλήκασιν δόμα δώσεις αὐταῖς κατάσχεσιν κληρονομίας ἐν μέσῳ ἀδελφῶν πατρὸς αὐτῶν καὶ περιθήσεις τὸν κλῆρον τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῶν αὐταῖς

8Then you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, 'If a man dies and has no son, you shall assign his inheritance to his daughter.

καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ λαλήσεις λέγων ἄνθρωπος ἐὰν ἀποθάνῃ καὶ υἱὸς μὴ ᾖ αὐτῷ περιθήσετε τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτοῦ τῇ θυγατρὶ αὐτοῦ

9But if he has no daughter, you shall give the inheritance to his brother.

ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ᾖ θυγάτηρ αὐτῷ δώσετε τὴν κληρονομίαν τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ

10But if he has no brothers, you shall give his inheritance to his father's brother.

ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ὦσιν αὐτῷ ἀδελφοί δώσετε τὴν κληρονομίαν τῷ ἀδελφῷ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ

11But if his father has no brothers, you shall give his inheritance to the relative closest to him in his tribe; and he shall inherit his possessions.' ' So this shall be an ordinance of judgment to the children of Israel, as the Lord ordered Moses.

ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ὦσιν ἀδελφοὶ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ δώσετε τὴν κληρονομίαν τῷ οἰκείῳ τῷ ἔγγιστα αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς αὐτοῦ κληρονομήσει τὰ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔσται τοῦτο τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ δικαίωμα κρίσεως καθὰ συνέταξεν κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ

12Now the Lord said to Moses, 'Go up into the mountain beyond the Jordan (this is Mount Nebo), and see the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel for a possession.

καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἀνάβηθι εἰς τὸ ὄρος τὸ ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦτο ὄρος Ναβαυ καὶ ἰδὲ τὴν γῆν Χανααν ἣν ἐγὼ δίδωμι τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ ἐν κατασχέσει

13Then you shall see it and be added to your people, even you, as Aaron your brother was added on Mount Hor,

καὶ ὄψει αὐτὴν καὶ προστεθήσῃ πρὸς τὸν λαόν σου καὶ σύ καθὰ προσετέθη Ααρων ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἐν Ωρ τῷ ὄρει

14because you transgressed My word in the Desert of Sin, when the congregation was failing to sanctify Me, you did not sanctify Me before them.' (This was the Water of Contention, at Kadesh in the Desert of Sin.)

διότι παρέβητε τὸ ῥῆμά μου ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ Σιν ἐν τῷ ἀντιπίπτειν τὴν συναγωγὴν ἁγιάσαι με οὐχ ἡγιάσατέ με ἐπὶ τῷ ὕδατι ἔναντι αὐτῶν τοῦτό ἐστιν ὕδωρ ἀντιλογίας Καδης ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ Σιν

15Then Moses spoke to the Lord, saying,

καὶ εἶπεν Μωυσῆς πρὸς κύριον

16'Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,

ἐπισκεψάσθω κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῶν πνευμάτων καὶ πάσης σαρκὸς ἄνθρωπον ἐπὶ τῆς συναγωγῆς ταύτης

17who will go in and out before their face, and lead them out and bring them in; then the congregation of the Lord will not be like sheep without a shepherd.'

ὅστις ἐξελεύσεται πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν καὶ ὅστις εἰσελεύσεται πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν καὶ ὅστις ἐξάξει αὐτοὺς καὶ ὅστις εἰσάξει αὐτούς καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ἡ συναγωγὴ κυρίου ὡσεὶ πρόβατα οἷς οὐκ ἔστιν ποιμήν

18Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 'Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man who has the Spirit in himself, and put your hand on him;

καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων λαβὲ πρὸς σεαυτὸν τὸν Ἰησοῦν υἱὸν Ναυη ἄνθρωπον ὃς ἔχει πνεῦμα ἐν ἑαυτῷ καὶ ἐπιθήσεις τὰς χεῖράς σου ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν

19and stand him before Eleazar the priest and give orders to him before all the congregation, and give orders concerning him before them.

καὶ στήσεις αὐτὸν ἔναντι Ελεαζαρ τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ ἐντελῇ αὐτῷ ἔναντι πάσης συναγωγῆς καὶ ἐντελῇ περὶ αὐτοῦ ἐναντίον αὐτῶν

20You shall then give some of your glory to him, that the children of Israel may obey him.

καὶ δώσεις τῆς δόξης σου ἐπ᾿ αὐτόν ὅπως ἂν εἰσακούσωσιν αὐτοῦ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ

21So he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, and they shall inquire before the Lord for him by the judgment of the Urim. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, he and all the children of Israel in one accord, even all the congregation.'

καὶ ἔναντι Ελεαζαρ τοῦ ἱερέως στήσεται καὶ ἐπερωτήσουσιν αὐτὸν τὴν κρίσιν τῶν δήλων ἔναντι κυρίου ἐπὶ τῷ στόματι αὐτοῦ ἐξελεύσονται καὶ ἐπὶ τῷ στόματι αὐτοῦ εἰσελεύσονται αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ὁμοθυμαδὸν καὶ πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγή

22So Moses did as the Lord commanded him, and taking Joshua, he stood him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation.

καὶ ἐποίησεν Μωυσῆς καθὰ ἐνετείλατο αὐτῷ κύριος καὶ λαβὼν τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἔστησεν αὐτὸν ἐναντίον Ελεαζαρ τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ ἔναντι πάσης συναγωγῆς

23Then he put his hands on him and appointed him, as the Lord commanded Moses.

καὶ ἐπέθηκεν τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν καὶ συνέστησεν αὐτόν καθάπερ συνέταξεν κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ
