Ezekiel 19

1As for you, son of man, take up a lamentation for the prince of Israel.

καὶ σὺ λαβὲ θρῆνον ἐπὶ τὸν ἄρχοντα τοῦ Ισραηλ

2You shall say, 'Why did your mother became a young lion in the midst of lions? Among the lions she multiplied her young lions.

καὶ ἐρεῖς τί ἡ μήτηρ σου σκύμνος ἐν μέσῳ λεόντων ἐγενήθη ἐν μέσῳ λεόντων ἐπλήθυνεν σκύμνους αὐτῆς

3Then one of her young lions leaped off. He became a lion, and learned to catch prey—he devoured men.

καὶ ἀπεπήδησεν εἷς τῶν σκύμνων αὐτῆς λέων ἐγένετο καὶ ἔμαθεν τοῦ ἁρπάζειν ἁρπάγματα ἀνθρώπους ἔφαγεν

4The nations also heard of him. He was taken in their pit, and they brought him in a muzzle to the land of Egypt.

καὶ ἤκουσαν κατ᾿ αὐτοῦ ἔθνη ἐν τῇ διαφθορᾷ αὐτῶν συνελήμφθη καὶ ἤγαγον αὐτὸν ἐν κημῷ εἰς γῆν Αἰγύπτου

5So she saw he was driven away from her, and her assurance perished.

καὶ εἶδεν ὅτι ἀπῶσται ἀπ᾿ αὐτῆς καὶ ἀπώλετο ἡ ὑπόστασις αὐτῆς καὶ ἔλαβεν ἄλλον ἐκ τῶν σκύμνων αὐτῆς λέοντα ἔταξεν αὐτόν

6'Then she took another of her young lions and made him a lion. He lived among the lions and became a lion. He learned to catch prey—he devoured men.

καὶ ἀνεστρέφετο ἐν μέσῳ λεόντων λέων ἐγένετο καὶ ἔμαθεν ἁρπάζειν ἁρπάγματα ἀνθρώπους ἔφαγεν

7He prowled in his boldness, laid waste their cities, and destroyed the land with its fullness by the noise of his roaring.

καὶ ἐνέμετο τῷ θράσει αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς πόλεις αὐτῶν ἐξηρήμωσεν καὶ ἠφάνισεν γῆν καὶ τὸ πλήρωμα αὐτῆς ἀπὸ φωνῆς ὠρύματος αὐτοῦ

8Then the nations came against him from the countries all around, and spread their nets over him. He was taken in their pit.

καὶ ἔδωκαν ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν ἔθνη ἐκ χωρῶν κυκλόθεν καὶ ἐξεπέτασαν ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν δίκτυα αὐτῶν ἐν διαφθορᾷ αὐτῶν συνελήμφθη

9They put him in a muzzle, and he came to the king of Babylon in a cage for wild animals. So they led him into a prison so his voice would not be heard on the mountains of Israel.

καὶ ἔθεντο αὐτὸν ἐν κημῷ καὶ ἐν γαλεάγρᾳ ἦλθεν πρὸς βασιλέα Βαβυλῶνος καὶ εἰσήγαγεν αὐτὸν εἰς φυλακήν ὅπως μὴ ἀκουσθῇ ἡ φωνὴ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη τοῦ Ισραηλ

10'Your mother was like a vine, like a blossom on a pomegranate tree, planted in water. Her fruit and branches grew because of much water.

ἡ μήτηρ σου ὡς ἄμπελος ὡς ἄνθος ἐν ῥόᾳ ἐν ὕδατι πεφυτευμένη ὁ καρπὸς αὐτῆς καὶ ὁ βλαστὸς αὐτῆς ἐγένετο ἐξ ὕδατος πολλοῦ

11She became a rod of strength for a tribe of leaders. She was exalted in her greatness in the midst of the stems, and saw her greatness in the multitude of her branches.

καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτῇ ῥάβδος ἰσχύος ἐπὶ φυλὴν ἡγουμένων καὶ ὑψώθη τῷ μεγέθει αὐτῆς ἐν μέσῳ στελεχῶν καὶ εἶδεν τὸ μέγεθος αὐτῆς ἐν πλήθει κλημάτων αὐτῆς

12But she was broken to pieces in anger, for she was thrown down on the ground, and the wind and burning heat dried her chosen branches. She was punished, and the rod of her strength withered—fire consumed it.

καὶ κατεκλάσθη ἐν θυμῷ ἐπὶ γῆν ἐρρίφη καὶ ἄνεμος ὁ καύσων ἐξήρανεν τὰ ἐκλεκτὰ αὐτῆς ἐξεδικήθη καὶ ἐξηράνθη ἡ ῥάβδος ἰσχύος αὐτῆς πῦρ ἀνήλωσεν αὐτήν

13So now they have planted her in the desert, in a waterless land.

καὶ νῦν πεφύτευκαν αὐτὴν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἐν γῇ ἀνύδρῳ

14Fire went out from the rod of her chosen branches and devoured her. There was no rod of strength in her. Her tribe is a parable of lamentation, and it shall be for a lamentation.' '

καὶ ἐξῆλθεν πῦρ ἐκ ῥάβδου ἐκλεκτῶν αὐτῆς καὶ κατέφαγεν αὐτήν καὶ οὐκ ἦν ἐν αὐτῇ ῥάβδος ἰσχύος φυλὴ εἰς παραβολὴν θρήνου ἐστὶν καὶ ἔσται εἰς θρῆνον
