Ezekiel 14

1Now some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat before me.

καὶ ἦλθον πρός με ἄνδρες ἐκ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων τοῦ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐκάθισαν πρὸ προσώπου μου

2Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρός με λέγων

3'Son of man, these men devised inventions in their hearts, and placed before their face the stumbling block of their wrongdoings. Shall I indeed answer them?

υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου οἱ ἄνδρες οὗτοι ἔθεντο τὰ διανοήματα αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὰς καρδίας αὐτῶν καὶ τὴν κόλασιν τῶν ἀδικιῶν αὐτῶν ἔθηκαν πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν εἰ ἀποκρινόμενος ἀποκριθῶ αὐτοῖς

4Therefore speak to them, and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord: 'Any man of the house of Israel who devises inventions in his heart, and places before his face the stumbling block of his wrongdoing, and then comes to the prophet, I, the Lord, will answer him according to the things in which his mind is entangled,

διὰ τοῦτο λάλησον αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς τάδε λέγει κύριος ἄνθρωπος ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου Ισραηλ ὃς ἂν θῇ τὰ διανοήματα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν κόλασιν τῆς ἀδικίας αὐτοῦ τάξῃ πρὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλθῃ πρὸς τὸν προφήτην ἐγὼ κύριος ἀποκριθήσομαι αὐτῷ ἐν οἷς ἐνέχεται ἡ διάνοια αὐτοῦ

5so as to lead astray the house of Israel according to their hearts, which are completely alienated from Me in their inventions.'

ὅπως πλαγιάσῃ τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Ισραηλ κατὰ τὰς καρδίας αὐτῶν τὰς ἀπηλλοτριωμένας ἀπ᾿ ἐμοῦ ἐν τοῖς ἐνθυμήμασιν αὐτῶν

6'Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'Thus says the Lord and Master: 'Be converted and turn away from your practices and all your ungodliness; then turn your faces back again.

διὰ τοῦτο εἰπὸν πρὸς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Ισραηλ τάδε λέγει κύριος κύριος ἐπιστράφητε καὶ ἀποστρέψατε ἀπὸ τῶν ἐπιτηδευμάτων ὑμῶν καὶ ἀπὸ πασῶν τῶν ἀσεβειῶν ὑμῶν καὶ ἐπιστρέψατε τὰ πρόσωπα ὑμῶν

7For any man from the house of Israel, or the resident aliens who sojourn in Israel, who alienates himself from Me, and devises inventions in his heart, and places before his face the stumbling block of his wrongdoing, and comes to the prophet to inquire of him concerning Me, then I, the Lord, will answer him according to the things that entangle his mind.

διότι ἄνθρωπος ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου Ισραηλ καὶ ἐκ τῶν προσηλύτων τῶν προσηλυτευόντων ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ ὃς ἂν ἀπαλλοτριωθῇ ἀπ᾿ ἐμοῦ καὶ θῆται τὰ ἐνθυμήματα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν κόλασιν τῆς ἀδικίας αὐτοῦ τάξῃ πρὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλθῃ πρὸς τὸν προφήτην τοῦ ἐπερωτῆσαι αὐτὸν ἐν ἐμοί ἐγὼ κύριος ἀποκριθήσομαι αὐτῷ ἐν ᾧ ἐνέχεται ἐν αὐτῷ

8I shall set My face against that man, and make him desolate and ruined, and remove him from the midst of My people. You shall know that I am the Lord.

καὶ στηριῶ τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἐπὶ τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἐκεῖνον καὶ θήσομαι αὐτὸν εἰς ἔρημον καὶ εἰς ἀφανισμὸν καὶ ἐξαρῶ αὐτὸν ἐκ μέσου τοῦ λαοῦ μου καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγὼ κύριος

9If the prophet is led astray and speaks, I, the Lord, have led that prophet astray; and I will stretch out My hand against him and destroy him from the midst of My people Israel.

καὶ ὁ προφήτης ἐὰν πλανηθῇ καὶ λαλήσῃ ἐγὼ κύριος πεπλάνηκα τὸν προφήτην ἐκεῖνον καὶ ἐκτενῶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν καὶ ἀφανιῶ αὐτὸν ἐκ μέσου τοῦ λαοῦ μου Ισραηλ

10So they shall bear their wrongdoing—the one who inquired shall bear his wrongdoing according to his wrong, and likewise it shall be for the prophet,

καὶ λήμψονται τὴν ἀδικίαν αὐτῶν κατὰ τὸ ἀδίκημα τοῦ ἐπερωτῶντος καὶ κατὰ τὸ ἀδίκημα ὁμοίως τῷ προφήτῃ ἔσται

11so the house of Israel may not stray from Me, nor be defiled any longer with all their transgressions, but be My people and I their God,' says the Lord.' '

ὅπως μὴ πλανᾶται ἔτι ὁ οἶκος τοῦ Ισραηλ ἀπ᾿ ἐμοῦ καὶ ἵνα μὴ μιαίνωνται ἔτι ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς παραπτώμασιν αὐτῶν καὶ ἔσονταί μοι εἰς λαόν καὶ ἐγὼ ἔσομαι αὐτοῖς εἰς θεόν λέγει κύριος

12Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρός με λέγων

13'Son of man, if a land sins against Me by committing a trespass, I shall stretch out My hand against it. I shall cut off its supply of bread, send famine upon it, and remove man and cattle from it.

υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου γῆ ἐὰν ἁμάρτῃ μοι τοῦ παραπεσεῖν παράπτωμα καὶ ἐκτενῶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπ᾿ αὐτὴν καὶ συντρίψω αὐτῆς στήριγμα ἄρτου καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ ἐπ᾿ αὐτὴν λιμὸν καὶ ἐξαρῶ ἐξ αὐτῆς ἄνθρωπον καὶ κτήνη

14Even though these three men: Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness,' says the Lord.

καὶ ἐὰν ὦσιν οἱ τρεῖς ἄνδρες οὗτοι ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς Νωε καὶ Δανιηλ καὶ Ιωβ αὐτοὶ ἐν τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ αὐτῶν σωθήσονται λέγει κύριος

15'If again I bring wild animals upon the land and punish it, and it becomes desolate because men fear the wild animals,

ἐὰν καὶ θηρία πονηρὰ ἐπάγω ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ τιμωρήσομαι αὐτὴν καὶ ἔσται εἰς ἀφανισμὸν καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ διοδεύων ἀπὸ προσώπου τῶν θηρίων

16even though these three men were in the land, as I live,' says the Lord, 'neither sons nor daughters would be saved. Instead, only they themselves would be delivered, but the land would be desolate.

καὶ οἱ τρεῖς ἄνδρες οὗτοι ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς ὦσι ζῶ ἐγώ λέγει κύριος εἰ υἱοὶ ἢ θυγατέρες σωθήσονται ἀλλ᾿ ἢ αὐτοὶ μόνοι σωθήσονται ἡ δὲ γῆ ἔσται εἰς ὄλεθρον

17'Or again, if I should bring a sword on that land and say, 'Let a sword go through the land,' and I removed man and cattle from it,

ἢ καὶ ῥομφαίαν ἐὰν ἐπάγω ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἐκείνην καὶ εἴπω ῥομφαία διελθάτω διὰ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐξαρῶ ἐξ αὐτῆς ἄνθρωπον καὶ κτῆνος

18even though these three men were in it, as I live,' says the Lord, 'they would deliver neither sons nor daughters, but only they themselves would be delivered.

καὶ οἱ τρεῖς ἄνδρες οὗτοι ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς ζῶ ἐγώ λέγει κύριος οὐ μὴ ῥύσωνται υἱοὺς οὐδὲ θυγατέρας αὐτοὶ μόνοι σωθήσονται

19'Or if I should send death upon the land and pour out My anger upon it in blood, to destroy both man and cattle from it,

ἢ καὶ θάνατον ἐπαποστείλω ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἐκείνην καὶ ἐκχεῶ τὸν θυμόν μου ἐπ᾿ αὐτὴν ἐν αἵματι τοῦ ἐξολεθρεῦσαι ἐξ αὐτῆς ἄνθρωπον καὶ κτῆνος

20and Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live,' says the Lord, 'neither sons nor daughters would be left. Only they by their righteousness would deliver their souls.'

καὶ Νωε καὶ Δανιηλ καὶ Ιωβ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς ζῶ ἐγώ λέγει κύριος ἐὰν υἱοὶ ἢ θυγατέρες ὑπολειφθῶσιν αὐτοὶ ἐν τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ αὐτῶν ῥύσονται τὰς ψυχὰς αὐτῶν

21Thus says the Lord: 'But even if I send upon Jerusalem My four evil punishments—sword, famine, wild animals, and death—to destroy from it both man and cattle,

τάδε λέγει κύριος ἐὰν δὲ καὶ τὰς τέσσαρας ἐκδικήσεις μου τὰς πονηράς ῥομφαίαν καὶ λιμὸν καὶ θηρία πονηρὰ καὶ θάνατον ἐξαποστείλω ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ τοῦ ἐξολεθρεῦσαι ἐξ αὐτῆς ἄνθρωπον καὶ κτῆνος

22yet behold, the remnant in it, those of it who are saved, who bring out sons and daughters from it, behold, these shall go forth to you. You will see their ways and inventions and be sorry over the evils I brought upon Jerusalem, even all the evils I brought upon it.

καὶ ἰδοὺ ὑπολελειμμένοι ἐν αὐτῇ οἱ ἀνασεσῳσμένοι αὐτῆς οἳ ἐξάγουσιν ἐξ αὐτῆς υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέρας ἰδοὺ αὐτοὶ ἐκπορεύονται πρὸς ὑμᾶς καὶ ὄψεσθε τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ ἐνθυμήματα αὐτῶν καὶ μεταμεληθήσεσθε ἐπὶ τὰ κακά ἃ ἐπήγαγον ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ πάντα τὰ κακὰ ἃ ἐπήγαγον ἐπ᾿ αὐτήν

23Then they will console you, because you will see their ways and their inventions; and you will know I have not done in vain whatever I did in it,' says the Lord.

καὶ παρακαλέσουσιν ὑμᾶς διότι ὄψεσθε τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ ἐνθυμήματα αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε διότι οὐ μάτην πεποίηκα πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησα ἐν αὐτῇ λέγει κύριος
