Irmos, Tone 6: Be ye astonished and afraid, O heaven, and let the foundations of the earth be shaken; for lo, He Who dwelleth on high is numbered with the dead and lodgeth as a stranger in a narrow tomb. Him do ye children bless, ye priests praise, and ye people supremely exalt unto all ages.
Grant rest, O Lord, unto the soul of Thy departed servant.
O what a dreadful hour awaiteth those who sin, O brethren! O what fear there will be when the fire of Gehenna will devour and torment all everlastingly! Wherefore, O Christ, compassionate Master, deliver from the terrible threat him who hath now passed from among us, and rescue him forever from the torment of Gehenna.
Grant rest, O Lord, unto the soul of Thy departed servant.
O the joy which the righteous will receive when the Judge will come! For there will be prepared the bridal-chamber, the garden of paradise, and the whole kingdom of Christ. Therein show Thy servants to rejoice forever with the saints, O Christ.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Who will withstand the dread threat of Thy coming, O Christ? There, in awesome manner, heaven will be unrolled like a scroll, the stars will fall, creation will quake with fear, and the light will be changed. But spare then him who hath departed from us, O Word. Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
The Son to Whom thou gavest flesh in manner transcending nature, O pure one, is the Judge of the living and the dead, and judgeth the whole earth, and saveth from torments those whom He desireth: those who with love worship Him in the icons, and who hymn thee as the Theotokos for all ages.
