¶1

Irmos, Tone 6: O ineffable wonder! He Who delivered the holy Children from the fiery furnace is laid a corpse without breath in the tomb, for the salvation of us who sing: "O God our Redeemer, blessed art Thou."

¶2

Grant rest, O Lord, unto the soul of Thy departed servant.

¶3

As Thou art compassionate, O Christ, henceforth deliver from the fire of Gehenna and the dread sentence Thy servant whom Thou hast received in faith; and grant that he may chant unto Thee: O God my Deliverer, blessed art Thou!

¶4

Grant rest, O Lord, unto the soul of Thy departed servant.

¶5

O God Who hast freed Thy servant who hath fallen asleep in faith, grant that in the land of the meek, in the delight of paradise, in the place of the habitation of wondrous glory, he may chant unto Thee: O God my Deliverer, blessed art Thou!

¶6

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

¶7

Great is the judgment, and inconceivable the anguish in Gehenna, O brethren; for there the souls and bodies of sinners will burn, and they will weep with pain, unable to cry: O God our Deliverer, blessed art Thou!

¶8

Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen. By thy supplications, O all-immaculate Theotokos, ever protect the living who without doubting hymn thee as the Mother of God; and from bitter torments deliver those who have passed away, that with thee they may cry out to Christ: O God our Deliverer, blessed art Thou!
