Malachi 2

1And now, O priests, this commandment is for you.

καὶ νῦν ἡ ἐντολὴ αὕτη πρὸς ὑμᾶς οἱ ἱερεῖς

2If you will not hear, and if you will not take it to heart, to give glory to My name,' says the Lord Almighty, 'I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessing; indeed I will curse it, and I will scatter your blessing, and you will have it no more because you do not take this to heart.

ἐὰν μὴ ἀκούσητε καὶ ἐὰν μὴ θῆσθε εἰς τὴν καρδίαν ὑμῶν τοῦ δοῦναι δόξαν τῷ ὀνόματί μου λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ ἐφ᾿ ὑμᾶς τὴν κατάραν καὶ ἐπικαταράσομαι τὴν εὐλογίαν ὑμῶν καὶ καταράσομαι αὐτήν καὶ διασκεδάσω τὴν εὐλογίαν ὑμῶν καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ἐν ὑμῖν ὅτι ὑμεῖς οὐ τίθεσθε εἰς τὴν καρδίαν ὑμῶν

3Behold, I am turning my back on you, and I will smear dung on your faces, the dung of your feasts, and I will carry you away at the same time.

ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀφορίζω ὑμῖν τὸν ὦμον καὶ σκορπιῶ ἤνυστρον ἐπὶ τὰ πρόσωπα ὑμῶν ἤνυστρον ἑορτῶν ὑμῶν καὶ λήμψομαι ὑμᾶς εἰς τὸ αὐτό

4Then you will know that I have sent this commandment to you, that My covenant is with the sons of Levi,' says the Lord Almighty.

καὶ ἐπιγνώσεσθε διότι ἐγὼ ἐξαπέσταλκα πρὸς ὑμᾶς τὴν ἐντολὴν ταύτην τοῦ εἶναι τὴν διαθήκην μου πρὸς τοὺς Λευίτας λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ

5'My covenant of life and peace was with him, and I gave this to him that he might reverently fear Me, that he might be established before My name.

ἡ διαθήκη μου ἦν μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ τῆς ζωῆς καὶ τῆς εἰρήνης καὶ ἔδωκα αὐτῷ ἐν φόβῳ φοβεῖσθαί με καὶ ἀπὸ προσώπου ὀνόματός μου στέλλεσθαι αὐτόν

6The law of truth was in his mouth, and injustice was not found on his lips. He walked with Me in peace and equity, and turned many away from lawlessness.

νόμος ἀληθείας ἦν ἐν τῷ στόματι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀδικία οὐχ εὑρέθη ἐν χείλεσιν αὐτοῦ ἐν εἰρήνῃ κατευθύνων ἐπορεύθη μετ᾿ ἐμοῦ καὶ πολλοὺς ἐπέστρεψεν ἀπὸ ἀδικίας

7For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge, and people should seek the law from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty.

ὅτι χείλη ἱερέως φυλάξεται γνῶσιν καὶ νόμον ἐκζητήσουσιν ἐκ στόματος αὐτοῦ διότι ἄγγελος κυρίου παντοκράτορός ἐστιν

8'But you have departed from the way; you weakened many in the law and corrupted the covenant of Levi,' says the Lord Almighty.

ὑμεῖς δὲ ἐξεκλίνατε ἐκ τῆς ὁδοῦ καὶ πολλοὺς ἠσθενήσατε ἐν νόμῳ διεφθείρατε τὴν διαθήκην τοῦ Λευι λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ

9'Therefore I also made you contemptible and disregarded before all nations, because you have not guarded My ways but have shown partiality in the law.'

κἀγὼ δέδωκα ὑμᾶς ἐξουδενωμένους καὶ παρειμένους εἰς πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἀνθ᾿ ὧν ὑμεῖς οὐκ ἐφυλάξασθε τὰς ὁδούς μου ἀλλὰ ἐλαμβάνετε πρόσωπα ἐν νόμῳ

10Did not one God create you? Do you not all have one father? Why, then, does each of you forsake his brother to profane the covenant of your fathers?

οὐχὶ θεὸς εἷς ἔκτισεν ὑμᾶς οὐχὶ πατὴρ εἷς πάντων ὑμῶν τί ὅτι ἐγκατελίπετε ἕκαστος τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ τοῦ βεβηλῶσαι τὴν διαθήκην τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν

11Judah was forsaken, and an abomination has occurred in Israel and in Jerusalem, for Judah profaned the holy things of the Lord, which He loved, and sought out foreign gods.

ἐγκατελείφθη Ιουδας καὶ βδέλυγμα ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ διότι ἐβεβήλωσεν Ιουδας τὰ ἅγια κυρίου ἐν οἷς ἠγάπησεν καὶ ἐπετήδευσεν εἰς θεοὺς ἀλλοτρίους

12The Lord will destroy the man who does these things until he is humiliated from the tents of Jacob and from among those who offer sacrifice to the Lord Almighty.

ἐξολεθρεύσει κύριος τὸν ἄνθρωπον τὸν ποιοῦντα ταῦτα ἕως καὶ ταπεινωθῇ ἐκ σκηνωμάτων Ιακωβ καὶ ἐκ προσαγόντων θυσίαν τῷ κυρίῳ παντοκράτορι

13And you do these things which I hate. You cover the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping and moaning because of troubles, yet still thinking it is worthy to look upon your sacrifice or take it as acceptable from your hands.

καὶ ταῦτα ἃ ἐμίσουν ἐποιεῖτε ἐκαλύπτετε δάκρυσιν τὸ θυσιαστήριον κυρίου καὶ κλαυθμῷ καὶ στεναγμῷ ἐκ κόπων ἔτι ἄξιον ἐπιβλέψαι εἰς θυσίαν ἢ λαβεῖν δεκτὸν ἐκ τῶν χειρῶν ὑμῶν

14And you say, 'Why?' Because the Lord has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, whom you have forsaken; yet she is your companion and the wife of your covenant.

καὶ εἴπατε ἕνεκεν τίνος ὅτι κύριος διεμαρτύρατο ἀνὰ μέσον σοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον γυναικὸς νεότητός σου ἣν ἐγκατέλιπες καὶ αὐτὴ κοινωνός σου καὶ γυνὴ διαθήκης σου

15But did He not make another, having a remnant of His Spirit? Yet you ask, 'What else does God seek but offspring?' But take heed to your spirit, and do not forsake the wife of your youth.

καὶ οὐκ ἄλλος ἐποίησεν καὶ ὑπόλειμμα πνεύματος αὐτοῦ καὶ εἴπατε τί ἄλλο ἀλλ᾿ ἢ σπέρμα ζητεῖ ὁ θεός καὶ φυλάξασθε ἐν τῷ πνεύματι ὑμῶν καὶ γυναῖκα νεότητός σου μὴ ἐγκαταλίπῃς

16'But if you hate her and send her away,' says the Lord God of Israel, 'ungodliness will obscure your thinking,' says the Lord Almighty. 'So take heed to your spirit, that you do not forsake her.'

ἀλλὰ ἐὰν μισήσας ἐξαποστείλῃς λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς τοῦ Ισραηλ καὶ καλύψει ἀσέβεια ἐπὶ τὰ ἐνθυμήματά σου λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ καὶ φυλάξασθε ἐν τῷ πνεύματι ὑμῶν καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐγκαταλίπητε

17You weary the Lord with your words, yet you say, 'In what way have we wearied Him?' In that you say, 'Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and He delights in them,' or, 'Where is the God of justice?'

οἱ παροξύνοντες τὸν θεὸν ἐν τοῖς λόγοις ὑμῶν καὶ εἴπατε ἐν τίνι παρωξύναμεν αὐτόν ἐν τῷ λέγειν ὑμᾶς πᾶς ποιῶν πονηρόν καλὸν ἐνώπιον κυρίου καὶ ἐν αὐτοῖς αὐτὸς εὐδόκησεν καί ποῦ ἐστιν ὁ θεὸς τῆς δικαιοσύνης
