1For the End; a psalm for the sons of Korah.

2Hear this, all you nations; Give ear, all you inhabitants of the world,

3Both earthborn and the sons of men, Rich and poor together.

4My mouth shall speak wisdom, And the meditation of my heart, understanding;

5I will incline my ear to a parable; I will open my riddle on the harp.

6What should I fear in an evil day? The lawlessness at my heel surrounds me.

7Those who trusted in their power And those who boast in the abundance of their wealth,

8A brother does not redeem; shall a man redeem? He will not give his ransom to God

9And the price of his soul's redemption.

10And he rested forever, and shall live to the end, Because he will not see decay when he sees wise men die.

11Foolish and senseless men die together, And they leave their wealth to strangers;

12And their graves will be their homes continually, Their dwelling places from generation to generation. They called their lands after their own names.

13A man being in honor did not understand; He was compared to the senseless cattle, and became like them.

14Their road is a snare for them, Yet afterwards, men will be well pleased with their sayings.

15Like sheep, they are put in Hades; death will shepherd them; And the upright shall gain dominion over them in the morning; And their help shall be made old in Hades away from their glory.

16Yet God will redeem my soul From the hand of Hades when He shall receive me. (Pause)

17Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich, And when the glory of his house is increased;

18For when he dies, he shall carry nothing away; Neither will his glory descend with him.

19For his soul shall be blessed in his lifetime; He will acknowledge You when You do him good.
