12Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone and the law and commandments I wrote, that you may teach them.'

13So Moses arose with his assistant Joshua, and they went up to the mountain of God.

14But he said to the elders, 'Wait here for us until we come back to you. Indeed, Aaron and Hur are with you. If any man has a difficulty, let him go to them.'

15Then Moses and Joshua went up the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain.

16Now the glory of God descended on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. Then on the seventh day the Lord called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.

17The sight of the Lord's glory was like a burning fire on the top of the mountain before the children of Israel.

18So Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up the mountain; and he was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

11Thus the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Then he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.

12Then Moses said to the Lord, 'Behold, You say to me, 'Bring up this people.' But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, 'I know you above all, and you have also found grace in My sight.'

13Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, reveal Yourself to me, that I may see You clearly and find grace in Your sight, and know this great nation is Your people.'

14So He said, 'I Myself will go before you and give you rest.'

15Then he said to Him, 'If You Yourself do not go up with us, do not bring us up from here.

16For how then will it be known that Your people and I found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So both I and Your people shall be glorified beyond all the nations on the earth.'

17The Lord then said to Moses, 'I will also do this thing you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you above all.'

18Moses replied, 'Reveal Yourself to me.'

19Then God said, 'I will pass before you in My glory, and I will proclaim My name, the Lord, before you. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.'

20But He said, 'You cannot see My face; for no man can see My face and live.'

21Moreover, the Lord said, 'Here is a place by Me: you shall stand on the rock.

22So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by.

23Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.'

1Now the Lord said to Moses, “Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and I will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets you broke.

2So be ready in the morning to come up on Mount Sinai and to present yourself to Me there on top of the mountain.

3But no man shall come up with you, and let no man be seen throughout all the mountain; let neither sheep nor oxen feed before that mountain.'

4So he cut two tablets of stone like the first ones. Then Moses rose early in the morning and went up to Mount Sinai as the Lord commanded him; and he took in his hand the two tablets of stone.

5Now the Lord descended in the cloud; and He stood with him there, and he called upon the name of the Lord.

6Then the Lord passed before his face and proclaimed, 'The Lord God, compassionate, merciful, longsuffering, abounding in mercy and true,

7preserving righteousness and showing mercy unto thousands, taking away lawlessness, wrongdoing, and sins; and He will not clear the guilty, visiting the lawlessness of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation.'

8So Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the ground and worshiped.

3Again the angel of the Lord came back a second time, touched him, and said, 'Arise and eat, because the journey is a great many days for you.'

4So he arose, ate and drank; and he went with the strength of that food forty days and forty nights, as far as Mount Horeb.

5There he went into a cave and rested.

6Behold, the word of the Lord came to him and said to him, 'Elijah, what are you doing here?' And Elijah said, 'I have been very zealous for the Lord Almighty since the children of Israel have forsaken You. They tore down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they seek to take my life.'

7Then He replied, 'Go out tomorrow and stand on the mountain before the Lord; and behold, the Lord will pass by, and before the Lord, a great and powerful wind will be rending the mountains and shattering the rocks; but the Lord will not be in the wind. After the wind, an earthquake, but the Lord will not be in the earthquake.

8After the earthquake, there will be a fire, but the Lord will not be in the fire. After the fire, there will be a sound of a gentle breeze, and the Lord will be there.'

9So when Elijah heard this, he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a Voice came to him and said, 'Elijah, what are you doing here?'

10He replied, 'I have been very zealous for the Lord Almighty, since the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they seek to take my life.'

11Then the Lord said to him, 'Go and return on your way to the desert of Damascus. When you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria.

12You shall also anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel, and shall anoint Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah as prophet in your place.

13Whoever escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and whoever escapes the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill.

14And you will leave seven thousand in Israel; all those whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and whose mouth has not kissed him.'

15Elijah departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him. Then Elijah passed by him and threw his mantle on him.

16So Elisha left the oxen, and ran after Elijah and said, 'I will kiss my father, then I will follow after you.' Elijah said to him, 'Return, for I have done this for you.'

28Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.

29As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.

30And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah,

31who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

32But Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him.

33Then it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, 'Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah'—not knowing what he said.

34While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud.

35And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, 'This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!'

36When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.

10Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;

11for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

12For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth.

13Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,

14knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me.

15Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease.

16For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

17For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.'

18And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

19And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;

35And this I say for your own profit, not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction.

36But if any man thinks he is behaving improperly toward his virgin, if she is past the flower of youth, and thus it must be, let him do what he wishes. He does not sin; let them marry.

37Nevertheless he who stands steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but has power over his own will, and has so determined in his heart that he will keep his virgin, does well.

38So then he who gives her in marriage does well, but he who does not give her in marriage does better.

39A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.

40But she is happier if she remains as she is, according to my judgment—and I think I also have the Spirit of God.

1Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.

2And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.

3But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.

4Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.

5For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords),

6yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.

7However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some, with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

1Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves;

2and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.

3And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.

4Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, 'Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.'

5While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!'

6And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid.

7But Jesus came and touched them and said, 'Arise, and do not be afraid.'

8When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.

9Now as they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, 'Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man is risen from the dead.'

29Jesus departed from there, skirted the Sea of Galilee, and went up on the mountain and sat down there.

30Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus' feet, and He healed them.

31So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.
